An Accra High Court has issued a warrant authorising the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to arrest Manhyia South Member of Parliament Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah and to search for and seize documents relevant to an ongoing investigation.

The warrant was granted on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, following an application by EOCO. The agency told the court that reasonable efforts to secure the legislator’s voluntary attendance had been exhausted and expressed concern that relevant documents could be concealed, altered or destroyed.
The development follows an attempted arrest of Baffour Awuah at the Accra High Court on September 23. EOCO subsequently said the attempted arrest was connected to an investigation and followed two invitations issued to the MP in February 2026.
The investigation concerns alleged financial irregularities involving SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited. Baffour Awuah has disputed EOCO’s account, explaining that the February correspondence related to his former law firm, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, which represented SIC Life.
According to the MP’s account, after he referred the matter to the Clerk to Parliament, a representative of his former firm appeared before EOCO investigators on March 4, March 18 and April 30 and provided information requested by investigators.
EOCO’s latest court-authorised action gives the agency legal authority to proceed with the arrest and the search and seizure of documents covered by the order. The full details and outcome of the investigation remain subject to further legal proceedings.
