A group of women gathered in Accra on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, to demand the release of detained senior nursing officer Salomey Awiti Baffoe, calling on President John Dramani Mahama to intervene in the ongoing case.
The demonstration comes amid growing public calls for the release of Baffoe, who has been in custody in connection with the case involving the “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account.
According to reports from the protest, the women gathered at the AMA Park and called for Baffoe’s immediate release, while giving President Mahama 24 hours to act on their demand.
Baffoe, a 40-year-old Senior Nursing Officer from Techiman, was arrested on September 13 and is facing a charge of abetment of crime relating to the alleged publication and circulation of false news. She has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The allegations against Baffoe have not been established in court. The Accra High Court on September 24 refused her bail application, with the court citing the cyber-related nature of the investigation and concerns about possible interference with witnesses. The court directed the Republic to expedite its investigations.
Baffoe is expected to return before the Adentan Circuit Court on September 30, 2026.
The latest demonstration adds to calls from supporters and community members for Baffoe to be released on bail while the case proceeds through the courts.
