MTN Ghana has announced a strong financial performance for the first half of 2026, recording significant growth in revenue, profitability and shareholder returns as data, digital services, enterprise, home and fintech businesses continued to expand.

Scancom PLC, operating as MTN Ghana, recorded service revenue of GH¢15.0 billion during the period, representing a 32.3% year-on-year increase. EBITDA rose by 47.1% to GH¢9.3 billion, while the EBITDA margin improved to 61.8%.
Profit after tax increased by 46.1% to GH¢5.1 billion, while earnings per share rose to GH¢0.388. The company also reported paying GH¢5.6 billion in direct and indirect taxes, alongside GH¢384.7 million in fees and levies.
Data remains a major growth engine
MTN Ghana’s data business remained one of the strongest contributors to the company’s performance. Data revenue increased by 37.2% year-on-year, supported by growing smartphone adoption, increased demand for digital services and expansion of the company’s customer base.
Active data subscribers grew by 17.0%, while average data usage increased by 38.0%, highlighting the continued shift towards greater digital consumption among Ghanaian customers.
Digital revenue nearly doubles
The company’s digital services business also recorded significant momentum during the first half of the year. Digital revenue increased by 98.0% year-on-year, driven by stronger adoption of gaming, video and other digital content services.
The performance reflects MTN Ghana’s broader strategy of moving beyond traditional telecommunications and building a wider digital ecosystem around its customer base.
MoMo continues strong growth
MTN Ghana’s fintech business maintained its growth trajectory, with Mobile Money revenue increasing by 23.3% year-on-year.
Transaction volumes rose by 27.3%, while transaction value increased by 44.4%, indicating continued demand for digital financial services across the company’s MoMo ecosystem.
The company also announced the successful completion of the structural separation of its Mobile Money business. According to MTN Ghana, the separation is expected to improve operational focus and agility within the fintech business while strengthening its platform for future growth.
Shareholders receive higher dividend
MTN Ghana also revised its dividend policy to allow the Board to declare interim dividends on a quarterly basis, subject to available cash resources, retained earnings and compliance with debt covenants.
The company declared a total interim dividend of GH¢0.12 per share for the period, representing a 50% increase year-on-year.
MTN expands social investment
Beyond its financial performance, MTN Ghana highlighted investments in education, healthcare, economic empowerment and sustainability during the first half of 2026.
The company scaled its SME Accelerate Programme, expanded the MTN Bright Scholarship Scheme and commissioned a new Accident and Emergency Centre at the Ho Teaching Hospital.
Through the 2026 Y’ello Care programme, MTN Ghana delivered 3,888 hospital beds and accessories to seven regional hospitals and settled medical bills and health insurance for 70 patients.
CEO speaks on performance
MTN Ghana CEO Stephen Blewett said the company’s first-half results demonstrate the resilience of the business and the successful execution of its strategy.
He said continued investment in the network, digital platforms and financial-services ecosystem was helping Ghanaians take advantage of opportunities in an increasingly connected and digital economy, while also contributing significantly to national development through taxes and other investments.
