A court in Wa has sentenced a 46-year-old man, identified as Elyasu Kunateh, to 10 years’ imprisonment after finding him guilty of defiling a seven-year-old boy.

The conviction underscores Ghana’s continued efforts to combat sexual abuse against children and ensure perpetrators face the full force of the law. Authorities have reiterated that crimes against minors will not be tolerated, while urging the public to report suspected cases of child abuse to the appropriate agencies.
Child protection advocates have also stressed the importance of safeguarding vulnerable children through community vigilance, timely reporting, and stronger support systems for victims.
The case serves as a reminder of the serious legal consequences for offences against children and reinforces the need for collective action to protect the rights and safety of every child in Ghana.
